New shows, Recognition and other musings

Hey everyone,

This is very exciting as we have some pretty big news to share.  This may be the most information heavy post we've done yet.

First up-  SteveFest  Taking place August 11.  Show starts at 1:00 PM and goes on til 2 AM!   The day's going to be filled with live music.  It's taking place @ NC Music Factory's The Saloon and TWBM's opening the event.

August 18th, we're shooting a new music video.  We'll post more details on that later, but we've got some amazing ideas in store and a fantastic crew to work with.

On August 29th, we're heading back to The Saloon and playing a full set.  This is going to be a fun night and you won't want to miss out

On the topic of recognition, you should check this site, City Web Awards, and vote for us (today)!  We've been nominated for the 2012 Best Kickstarter Campaign award through the City Web Awards hosted by Elevate Lifestyle and Blackfinn American Saloon in Charlotte, NC  The awards take place August 10th at the EpiCentre in uptown Charlotte.

And if all that weren't enough-  well, there's the 2012 Weenie Roast.   Local Radio Station, 106.5 The End, is bringing back the long missed music festival and this year they're wanting to have one local band open the show.   We're already entered and voting starts on July 30th.  This one is going to require YOUR help.  We need YOU to vote for us so that we can open the largest music event in Charlotte this year.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to hear from YOU soon

Musings...and other things of note

Robert here. We've not kept up as well as we'd like, but we're doing our best. Things are moving along here in the TWBM camp. We're working to stay busy this summer and move into the fall with shows to play and things to share. Speaking of shows, word on the street is that the Weenie Roast is coming back to Charlotte in September, and that they are looking for a local opener. No word on how that will go down, but keep your eyes peeled and vote for us if that's something they want. I think it'll be along those lines. We could sure use your support on that one.

So that's the major news. We've got more things coming down the pipeline, but I'll keep my mouth shut on them for now. Got to keep some surprises :-)

I did, however, want to take to time to discuss the concept of creation. We just released an album, Separation Anxiety, back in May. Seems like so long ago now, even after it seemed to take forever to get there. Even now, just a few weeks later, I can already feel the itch to do more, to give you listeners more to work with, more to hear. I certainly get why it's good for bands to tour: not just for revenue, but to give the songs time to settle and really breathe. It's harder to do that in a smaller outfit like ours. That being said, we'll be pressing on with writing in the not-too-distant future, though it'll be some time before those new creations actually see the light of day. Suffice it to say, that for me--and, I think, for the rest of the band--this is something that is important. The ability to create and make something that people want to hear and want to connect with is so amazing, and I'm blessed to be able to do it. Thank you for listening and for reading and for engaging. We couldn't do it without you.

God bless,
Robert

On going acoustic

I've said over and over again that the connection created by the music is almost more important than the music itself. Almost. So the idea of taking things down a few notches and letting the songs breathe a bit is actually something I look forward to. One thing that I've often heard said (and said myself on occassion) is that a good song is a good song no matter how you play it, and vice versa. This is why I explain to people that a cover of a bad song is still a bad song. The lyrics, the melody, those things are still in tact. So if the song was awful to start, it remains so. The same can be said, I think, for good songs (although I think it is possible to ruin them with bad covers, but that's another story). I believe our songs are good tunes, so no matter how we play them, they should be equally good. Maybe there is preferred manner of playing them, a way they were "meant" to be heard, but a good song should stand. And, to be honest, all these songs started as acoustic jams anyway.

I'm looking forward to people hearing them this way again. Come on out if you can. June 21 at The Fountain near Ardrey Kell. We go on at 8!

Upcoming gig- June 21st

So,  open mic nights are always fun-  and when you're invited as the featured artist, those are also pretty stellar.     That's what's happening June 21st, at the Fountains @ Ardrey Kell.   Come on out and enjoy an acoustic set and hear some new tunes from our new album, Separation Anxiety.

Welcome from the Wordsmith

Just wanted to take a few minutes to say hello quickly. As the singer/frontman for the band, I suppose mine tend to be the thoughts and voice that is heard the most, so I'm glad that this will be an opportunity for the other members of TWBM to speak. I've never meant for this to be a musical dictatorship, but a group of people who enjoy each others' company enough to make music together. While my voice tends to be stronger, as the lyricist and all, I think it's important that all of us--John, Will and Dan--all get to speak.

All this to say: welcome to our blog. We hope you come back and see how things are going in TWBM land. We are so thrilled to make music for you and cannot thank you enough for the support. Don't forget to check out the links to buy our albums and keep checking back for show dates, etc. Thanks again and God bless!

The TWBM cliche post

How else do we start a new blog but with a cliche opener?

I guess the real cliche is that I recognize saying it's a cliche is a cliche, right?

If you're on this page, hopefully you're also a fan or wanting to check out new music.  Either way, we're glad you came by and hope you continue to visit.     Make sure you check the cool tabs right under that enormous picture (which happens to be the new album cover) and see our discography, music videos and more.

This blog will be dedicated to sharing details about the band, our upcoming shows,  ways to meet and connect, ever changing gear lists, inspirational stories, and the obligatory random thought.

I'm starting this blog today, May 30th 2012, just 3 days after our sophomore album release, Separation Anxiety, available for download HERE.

The band's undergone a lot of changes since I joined last year, and the music has evolved in a natural, organic way.  I think our growth is evident in the cd and whether vocally or musically, you can hear our hearts being poured in.

My good friend and TWBM front man, Robert Morrison, has said he just wants to make music. Hard or soft, loud or quiet, fast or slow, it doesn't really matter: he just wants to be a part of the community he loves so much. Like many artists, music serves as an outlet for creativity and emotional venting. But don't bother with a rather overused, well-known three letter term. To Robert, its just about making something worth singing.

"I want my music to be enjoyable," he says, "but in the end, it really comes down to 'Is this working for me? Am I happy with this?' If not, then what's the point"..
